It also operates on 110-240 volt power so this player can litterally play discs from all over the world, anywhere in the world.
The advanced connectivity of HDMI
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Pioneer's BDP-31FD features one HDMI output. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater’s high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components. It’s only natural that you might have questions regarding how best to outfit your personal HD system. Vann’s sales representatives are here to explain all of your options. As the director intended
Alright, so we've confidently and casually noted that Blu-ray Disc is capable of storing 7.1 channels of what we're calling "uncompressed audio." But perhaps it's worth shedding little light on the situation . . . "worth it"? Absolutely! Especially since it makes the difference between "movie night" and a "home theater experience." You see, with its limited storage capacity, DVD was only able to offer 5.1 channels of "compressed" audio, or a soundtrack whose signal had been trimmed down to a smaller, DVD-friendly size. Naturally, some of the most vibrant and dynamic elements of the original soundtrack were lost because they weren't "essential." But Blu-ray believes that the director's original vision for the complete film&ensp— picture and sound — is essential. And this brings us to 7.1-channel uncompressed audio. Blu-ray Disc media has so much more storage space than DVD that it can fit not only the studio-original sound track, but also two additional surround sound channels. The result is an engaging, exceptionally enveloping home theater experience. And delivering full access to all of this surround sound bliss, the Pioneer BDP-31FD sports built-in Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio decoding. These latest and most advanced technologies from Dolby and dts are specifically designed to unlock the Blu-ray audio experience, bringing you nothing less than home theater as the director intended. Further, when connected to a compatible Pioneer A/V receiver, bitstream Precision Quartz Lock System jitterless transmission ensures that audio sources — whether Blu-ray surround sound or CD stereo — are reproduced with exceptional precision.

Model Purchased: Pioneer BDP-31FD All Region Blu Ray player
Order Number: 846722Product Review:
Haven't used many of the features (internet, netflix, etc) but for playing movies picture quality is stunning. Took it for a test drive with blu rays purchased in Europe and Japan, depth and clarity was amazing- like looking through a window. Helps to have a nice tv obviously, but if you do this player is a great compliment to it.

We decided to buy this product after a lot of research and we are very pleased with it. We use our Netflix daily and my husband loves being able to play movies from Germany. We have not had any problems with the streaming or the quality like we had with our lastBlu-ray player.

I bought one for my house and one for my parents. It is so easy to set up and has all the bells and whistles we were looking for with wireless access; Netfllix; and more. The sound is absolutely incredible and the picture is clear.

Based on the positive reviews and the price I bought this model to watch blu-ray movies from Europe. It is really great. It is easy to use and provides an excellent picture for DVDs and blu-ray. I like that it can interface with the internet and Netflix (although I have not used that feature yet). A great player at a good price.
