The Pioneer Elite 58AV is modified for region free / code free and will allow you to play any region disc, including new RCE and REA discs. Watch movies from all zones 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 with the region free Pioneer Elite 58AV dvd player. This code free dvd player can play both PAL and NTSC discs enabling you to watch both USA and European discs on one machine. It also has a 20MB built in Pal to NTSC converter allowing for Perefect Pal to NTSC conversion.
This player upconverts to the highest resolution of any tv, including the newest 1080p Full HD resolution. Normal DVD movies will be outputted via HDMI to any HDTV at 1080p resolution.

This has been a good solid DVD player with no problems experienced through nearly a year of use in our language lab at Macalester College. We purchaed it because our professors bring in DVDs from all over the world for the language programs. We have had no complaints and the hardware conversion technology has been easy to use. We purchased 4 of these code free DVD players for our Presentation Services Dept. of the Douglass Library at Rutgers. They have performed flawlessly, the hardware conversion doing a great job. They are just plug and play. These are used on a daily basis by faculty. We rent them out as well and they are used for tough tasks like recording tapes onto DVD. The main feature we needed was the international DVD playback and we wanted a sturdy player with excellent hardware chipset technology. This (World Clad) conversion has done the trick well as we have had no problems in almost a year of owning them.

Everything I have played mostly Region 2 DVDs from England have just played beautifully on this player. The World Clad conversion is just plug and play. I purchased the Pioneer Elite DV58A region free DVD player about a month ago. It's working really well. So far, I’ve played Region 1, Region 2 (Danish, English) and Region 4 (Australia, New Zealand) DVDs on it and they look great.
I absolutely would recommend the Elite's region free DVD player and its World Clad chipset. If anyone has an interest in a DVD player that plays all regions, especially movies that are not available in the US, this is the product for you.
